Advantages of a Day Trip

Well the title is pretty self-explanatory and this post tells you why you must use the weekend to go on a short trek rather than wile time away at your favourite café.

  •      There is no need to pack a big bag! Packing for a trip is always a nightmare and on a day trek all you need is a small bag carrying essentials. 
  •         You do not need to save up for months. How good is this pro? If you’re funding your own holiday, this way you do not need to wait a while for a well-deserved break. 
  •          A change of scene. Let’s get real, it is impossible to get about 10 days off from school/college or work more than once a year and the thought of a fixed routine the other 355 days is unbearable. Stop staring at that tan wall and go look at lush green valleys. Shoo! 
  •         You get to learn something new. Instead of exclaiming over TLC or National Geographic episodes, visit a Warli Village and get some first-hand knowledge while meeting people with the most amazing stories ever. 
  •         Lastly, field trips are a great way to meet new, like-minded people. The interaction, shared activities and narrated anecdotes usually lead to the development of a lifelong bond.

Clarke commonly known as Sepalous Barleria (Koranti in vernacular langaue) is found growing on exposed hill slopes at about 1200 m at Torana fort in Northern Western Ghats along with other species viz. Abutilon ranadei Woodrow and Stapf., Arthraxon lanceolatus var. meeboldii (Stapf.) Welzen, A. lanceolatus var. villosus (C.E.C. Fisch.) Welzen, Blepharis repens Roth, Dichanthium jainii (Deshp. And Hemadri) Deshp., Echinopus echinatus Roxb., Rhinacanthus nasutus (L.) Kurz.,Strobilanthes callosus Nees, S. sessilis Nees, Swertia densifolia (Griseb.) Knobl., Trachyspermum roxburghianum (DC.) H. This species is currently known only from a single locality with an area of occupancy less than 1 km2 area, and the population consists of not more than 100 plants.
